• All students in grades 3-6 have Art class once a week.  Each class is 40 minutes long.
• Each grade level has a self-portrait unit and will explore many different mediums across various periods of art history.
• Grades 3-5 each have a 3D unit, working in either clay or plaster.
• 6^th graders will complete the famous “Half-Face” self-portrait, which always makes for a stunning display at their moving-up ceremony in June!
• ATTENTION 4^th GRADE PARENTS!  Each child is asked to bring in a Styrofoam tray in the fall for their Native American mask project.  I have shown them examples of what they look like.  The best trays are the ones that meat/poultry/vegetables come on from the supermarket.  Just be sure to wash it with soap and water!  Grocery stores are often willing to give you one for free if you ask at the meat counter.  If you are unable to obtain one, I do have some extras.  Please have your child bring it in by November 1^st.  They also can bring in small plastic building pieces such as travel size containers, tops from shampoo/detergent bottles, etc., which have interesting shapes that can be used to create facial features for our masks.  This is not required, as I have tons of material, but it will help make your child’s project more unique!  Please reach out with any questions!
