My name is Emily Lilley, I am the Speech Language Pathologist at Babylon Memorial Grade School.
School-based Speech Language Pathologists work as a member of a student’s educational team with a unique view of the role that communication plays in social interaction and students’ classroom performance. I collaborate with teachers and families to support student’s ability to communicate effectively in the academic setting. School-Based Speech Pathologists diagnose and treat speech and language disorders.
➢ A speech-language disorder is an impairment in the ability to understand and/or express thoughts and ideas.
The goal of public-school speech-language pathology services is to improve a student’s expressive/receptive language, fluency, and/or articulation abilities such that they do not interfere with academic achievement and functional performance in the classroom.
