OneDrive Organization

OneDrive

Microsoft OneDrive is like a digital backpack for storing important files, pictures, and schoolwork. It keeps everything in one safe place for easy access. We encourage the students to keep their files organized and save their materials in designated folders.

 Microsoft Teams

Teams

Microsoft Teams is like a virtual classroom where the teacher can communicate with students. It is a tool for digital assignments and reminders.

In 3rd and 4th grade, students learn how to open Micosoft Teams, navigate to a class team, navigate to a channel and post to a channel. They also learn how to navigate the tabs in Teams. Lastly, students learn how to reply to a post, create a post and create a post with an image.

In 5th and 6th  grade, students are taking on more responsibilty and are becoming more independent. They use Teams to track multiple assignments, navigate different channels and submit assignments.

Teams is a platform that your student will be utilizing throughtout their educational career in Babylon.

 

Microsoft Word

Word

Microsoft Word is like a digital notebook or a powerful typewriter where students can create all types of documents like essays, reports, stories and even flyers. Microsoft Word is a tool that allows students to create, edit and share work.

In 3rd and 4th grade, students learn how to open Word and navigate the Microsoft Word Ribbon. They learn how to name a file and save it to their OneDrive. Students learn how to format font style/size, insert and format an image and how to insert a border. Lastly, students learn how to create a list with bullets/numbers.

In 5th and 6th grade, students are taking on more responsibiltiy and becoming more independent. Students are using templates and designs to make their documents look neat and organized. Students are using command shortcuts more often and sharing their documents with their teachers.

 

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is like a digital poster board that helps students create presentations. PowerPoint is used for sharing ideas and information. It is a tool that makes their ideas come alive!

In 3rd and 4th grade, students learn how to open Microsoft PowerPoint, navigate the PowerPoint Ribbon,  They learn how to name a file and save it to their OneDrive. Students learn how to create a simple slide show with images and simple animations and transitions. 

In 5th and 6th grade, students are taking on more responsibilty and becoming more independent. Students are creating more complex slide shows that are longer and include more information. They practice creating organized presentations with titles, bullet points, tables and images that support the information in their presentations. Students start to think about design choices, choosing colors and fonts that look professional.

Digital citizenship is all about being a good, safe, and reponsible person when using technology.  Just like in real life, we teach our students to….
